Beware [1] lest any man spoil [2][3] you through philosophy [4] and vain deceit [5][6][7], after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. [8][9][10]
- ↑ "Beware" is being used in the sense of a sentry on guard duty. Sentry is a noun and in its plural form sen·tries. A soldier stationed at a place to stand guard and prevent the passage of unauthorized persons, watch for fires, etc., especially a sentinel stationed at a pass, gate, opening in a defense work, or the like.
- ↑ "Spoil" is not talking about food; it’s talking about the spoils of war that go to the victor—the gold and silver and land.
