I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. [1][2][3][4]
- ↑ How to be fruitful? Jesus said the kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground. “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how” (Mark 4:26, 27). The seed grows all by itself. The farmer doesn’t make it happen.
- ↑ But if he tries to make the seed grow, by digging it up or tugging on the stalk, he’ll ruin the harvest.
- ↑ Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing.” We can’t bear His fruit, and we can’t make ourselves grow. From start to finish, He does it all. But we can sabotage that process by trying to make things happen.
