being born again [1], not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible [2], by the word of God [3], which liveth and abide to for ever. [4]

  1. ↑ To produce again, be born (beget) again or born (beget) anew. Metaphorically: to have one’s mind changed so that he lives a new life and one conformed to the will of God.
  2. ↑ (aphthartos) Uncorrupted, not liable to corruption or decay, imperishable of things immortal of the risen dead.
  3. ↑ Or “the Word of the living and enduring God.”
